Head CT scanning plays an important role in differentiating ischemic stroke from hemorrhagic stroke and supporting appropriate clinical management. However, public knowledge and awareness regarding the importance of head CT examination and post-stroke therapy still need to be improved. This Community Service Program aimed to improve the knowledge and awareness of patients or stroke survivors regarding ischemic stroke, head CT examination, and post-stroke management.

Methods: The activity was conducted among patients or stroke survivors at the Indonesian Stroke Foundation (Yayasan Stroke Indonesia/YASTROKI), Semarang Branch. The educational intervention was delivered through face-to-face health education using lectures, presentation materials, educational leaflets, videos, demonstrations, and interactive discussions. Pre-tests and post-tests were administered to evaluate changes in participants' knowledge and awareness. The activity was conducted on July 12, 2026, and was attended by 30 participants.

Results: The pre-test results showed that only 15% of participants had knowledge about ischemic stroke, 10% understood the benefits of head CT examination and post-stroke management, and 15% understood the head CT examination procedure. Following the educational intervention, knowledge in all assessed indicators increased to 90%. Participants' awareness of undergoing a head CT examination also increased from 50% in the pre-test to 90% in the post-test.
Conclusion: Education regarding head CT examination in patients with ischemic stroke and post-stroke management can improve participants' knowledge and awareness. Regular and continuous educational activities are needed to improve community health literacy and encourage earlier examination and management of stroke.

Keywords: ischemic stroke, head CT scan, health education, post-stroke management, stroke survivors
Aryadiva Nugrahaning Prayoga, Lucky Restyanti Wahyu Utami, Trisna Budiwati, Boki Jaleha, Maya Triyanita, Rohadi Jaka R Copyright (c) 2026 Aryadiva Nugrahaning Prayoga https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://jipmk.uwhs.ac.id/index.php/jpm/article/view/196 Tue, 06 Oct 2026 14:27:28 +0700 Edukasi Fitoterapi Hipertensi dan Diabetes Melitus melalui Kolaborasi Pentahelix di Puskesmas Warunggunung Kabupaten Lebak, Banten https://jipmk.uwhs.ac.id/index.php/jpm/article/view/193
Non-communicable diseases, particularly hypertension and diabetes mellitus, require promotive, preventive, early curative approaches, and continuous education. On the other hand, the strong cultural practice of using traditional herbal medicine in Indonesia necessitates pharmacy education to ensure that the utilization of phytotherapy is rational, safe, evidence-based, and does not replace conventional medical therapies. This community service activity aimed to improve public health literacy regarding phytotherapy, the limitations of traditional medicine use, and the importance of early detection and medical consultation. The program was implemented at the Warunggunung Public Health Center, Lebak Regency, Banten, through a pentahelix collaboration. The education provided encompassed the concepts of phytotherapy, safe preparation methods, lifestyle modifications, and patient safety principles. The activity was attended by 60 participants, predominantly female (78%), aged 41–60 years (43%), with an elementary school education level (57%), and housewives (31%). The evaluation results showed an increase in the mean knowledge score from 58.67 to 63.00, although it was not statistically significant ($p = 0.224$). Nonetheless, the participants' satisfaction level was in the excellent category (mean score of 3.50–3.63 on a 4-point scale). It can be concluded that this pharmacy-based phytotherapy education was well received by the community, but future effectiveness in improving knowledge requires intervention strategies that are more intensive, repetitive, and contextualized to the target audience's health literacy levels.
Prisnu Tirtanirmala, Fransiskus Samuel Renaldi, Andiri Niza Syarifah Copyright (c) 2026 Prisnu Tirtanirmala, Fransiskus Samuel Renaldi, Andiri Niza Syarifah https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://jipmk.uwhs.ac.id/index.php/jpm/article/view/193 Wed, 07 Oct 2026 13:50:12 +0700 Pendampingan Implementasi Aplikasi Tunggal Dara untuk Penguatan Surveilans Jentik dalam Pengendalian Demam Berdarah Dengue di Kelurahan Gedawang https://jipmk.uwhs.ac.id/index.php/jpm/article/view/201
Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) remains a public health problem in Semarang City. The effectiveness of community-based surveillance is strongly influenced by cadres' ability to record and report larval monitoring results quickly and accurately. This community service program aimed to improve cadres' knowledge and skills in using the Tunggal Dara Application for dengue reporting and monitoring in Gedawang Village, Banyumanik District, Semarang City. The activity was conducted on 15 July 2026 and targeted approximately 40 participants, comprising Village Health Forum administrators, Family Welfare Empowerment representatives from neighborhood units 01-10, larval monitoring cadres from neighborhood units 01-10, and Gedawang Village officers. The stages included needs identification, preparation of training materials and a practical module, interactive lectures, demonstrations, hands-on practice, application simulations, discussions, and evaluation using pretest-posttest instruments and skill observation sheets. The materials covered application introduction, installation, account management, entry of larval inspection results, reporting, and dashboard utilization. Participants were able to take part in the application simulation and, based on partner testimonials, gained a better understanding of digital recording, reporting, and monitoring. The program also produced an electronic mass-media publication, activity and testimonial videos, and a mentoring poster. Differences in digital literacy and smartphone specifications, as well as unstable internet connections, were addressed through individual assistance, step-by-step guidance, and alternative networks. This mentoring program strengthened cadres' capacity to support digital dengue surveillance. Quantitative analysis of pretest-posttest results and periodic monitoring of actual application use remain necessary to evaluate the sustainability of the program's impact.
Asharul Fahyudi, Nina Dwi Astuti, Niken Aulia Putri, Danny Ardianto Wibowo Copyright (c) 2026 Asharul Fahyudi, Nina Dwi Astuti, Niken Aulia Putri, Danny Ardianto Wibowo https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://jipmk.uwhs.ac.id/index.php/jpm/article/view/201 Wed, 07 Oct 2026 13:56:25 +0700 Deteksi Dini Hiperkolesterolemia melalui Skrining Kolesterol Darah di Desa Sumber, Kabupaten Klaten, Jawa Tengah https://jipmk.uwhs.ac.id/index.php/jpm/article/view/203
Hypercholesterolemia is one of the predisposing factors for cardiovascular disease and often presents without specific symptoms in its early stages, resulting in the condition frequently going unnoticed by the community. Early detection through cholesterol level screening accompanied by health education is needed as a promotive and preventive effort to increase public awareness of the risks associated with abnormal cholesterol levels. This community service activity aimed to enhance community awareness about hypercholesterolemia and support early detection through blood cholesterol screening in Sumber Village, Klaten Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. The activity was implemented through three main stages: health education, cholesterol level assessment using the point-of-care testing (POCT) method, and individualized education based on the screening results. A total of 100 participants took part in the entire series of activities. The screening results showed that 42 participants (42%) had cholesterol levels within the normal category, 44 participants (44%) were in the borderline category, and 14 participants (14%) were classified as abnormal. Overall, 58% of participants had cholesterol levels that were not within the normal category and therefore required greater attention to contributing factors and appropriate health follow-up. Participants with cholesterol levels above the normal category received education on adopting a healthy diet, increasing physical activity, maintaining a healthy body weight, and seeking further examination at healthcare facilities. These findings indicate that integrating health education with POCT-based cholesterol screening can serve as an applicable promotive and preventive approach to support the early detection of hypercholesterolemia. Misconceptions about fever may lead to inappropriate medication, unsuitable cooling practices, delayed recognition of danger signs, or delayed healthcare seeking. This community engagement activity was conducted to strengthen the role of Posyandu cadres as accessible community health resources who can deliver simple, safe, and consistent messages about home fever management. The activity was held at Puskesmas 4 Ulu, Palembang, on 10 September 2026 and involved 20 cadres. The program consisted of a pre-test, education using a pocket book on home management of childhood fever, discussion, educational videos, demonstrations, and a post-test. The content emphasized correct temperature measurement, adequate fluids and nutrition, continued breastfeeding, child comfort, monitoring of general condition and hydration, recognition of danger signs, and timely referral to health facilities when needed. The proportion of cadres with good knowledge increased from 80% to 100%, while good reported behavior/practice increased from 90% to 95%. These outcomes indicate that the community service activity strengthened cadres' knowledge and readiness to support families. Positive community benefits are expected through repeated dissemination of appropriate messages by cadres during Posyandu activities and everyday interactions, helping families provide safer initial care and recognize when professional assessment is required. Periodic mentoring is needed to sustain and extend these benefits to households.

Keywords: childhood fever; Posyandu cadres; community empowerment; health education; home fever management
Faiza Yuniati, Maksuk, Intan Kumalasari, Erwin Erwin Copyright (c) 2026 Faiza Yuniati, Maksuk, Intan Kumalasari, Erwin Erwin https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://jipmk.uwhs.ac.id/index.php/jpm/article/view/210 Wed, 14 Oct 2026 13:25:41 +0700 Pemberdayaan Masyarakat dalam Menghadapi Hipertensi Melalui Terapi Akupunktur dan Manfaat Bunga Telang https://jipmk.uwhs.ac.id/index.php/jpm/article/view/200
Background: Hypertension is one of the major risk factors for cardiovascular disease and is often asymptomatic, requiring early detection and community empowerment.
High blood pressure (hypertension) is considered a global health crisis by the World Health Organization (WHO). It is a major risk factor for death and disability. As the most common chronic condition encountered in primary healthcare settings, implementing therapy to lower and maintain blood pressure within target ranges is crucial. Based on the data from the integrated primary care facility (POSYANDU) " Ngudi Waras" for the elderly in Senden, Tohudan, Colomadu, Karanganyar, indicates that 50% of residents suffer from hypertension. Addressing the issues faced by these residents, we organized a community service initiative to help manage the high blood pressure affecting a large portion of the population—a condition that poses a risk for developing other serious ailments such as heart disease and stroke. The intervention involved isometric training using hand-grip devices, a method recommended by the American Heart Association. Following participation in this program that held twice a week for 8 weeks resulted in a reduction in the average systolic blood pressure. This community service activity demonstrates the benefits of the efforts in lowering and preventing hypertension. Controlled blood pressure is expected to help prevent catastrophic illnesses like heart disease and stroke. Furthermore, this initiative aims to support the success of the six pillars of health transformation, specifically the transformation of primary care services.
Nur Basuki Copyright (c) 2026 Nur Basuki https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://jipmk.uwhs.ac.id/index.php/jpm/article/view/206 Wed, 14 Oct 2026 15:29:43 +0700
